Introducing Ben Jasmer: It is wonderful to be joining the Pine City team! I am a MN transplant from Nebraska who met my wife in the BWCA while working there as a canoe guide. We live in North Branch with our 4 kids and 2 golden retrievers, while I dabble in gardening, watching British comedy panel shows, (not quite) finishing numerous home renovations and (not quite) starting my Masters thesis. This will be my sixth year teaching Visual Arts to middle and high school students.
Joel Hogberg: This year I am entering my 18th year as a math teacher, my first as a Dragon! While I have been a part of the Pine City community for 7 years now, I have been a teacher, instructional coach, and MTSS coordinator in Hinckley throughout that time. I now get to join my wife, Jamie (5th grade teacher), and my 4 boys in the district. I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, and watching my kids’ endless sporting events.
Meet Emily Guzik: Hello! This will be my first year teaching at Pine City High School. I graduated from Bethel University in December 2022 with a degree in Social Studies 5-12 and a History minor. I will be teaching Computer Applications and some Social Studies classes this year. I am excited to be back in my hometown teaching! I love to fish, hike, listen to music, and go side by side riding!
Meet Nick Garmen: I am a first year teacher and could not be more excited to do my first year in Pine City! I graduated from UMN Morris and student taught in Sauk Centre. I love making connections with my students and having fun while learning! I love to be outdoors and do a lot of different activities when the weather allows.
Introducing Sherah Regenold: I recently moved to Pine City from Roseville and am excited to start my 8th year teaching math at Pine City High School. I have taught everything from Intermediate Algebra to AP Calculus AB, so am ready to see what I am teaching this year. In June, my husband and I got a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy and have spent the summer training in him. I also enjoy reading, baking, hiking, fishing, and generally being outside.
New Staff Sara Gray: Hey there! This will be my 2nd year of teaching! Prior to earning dual licensure in Special Education (K-12) and General Education (K-6), I was a paraprofessional for the district for about 9 years. Last year, I taught 6th grade in Rush City. I was born and raised in Pine City, so I am very much looking forward to working in my hometown. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, friends, and family!
¡Hola! I am a PCHS alum—graduated in 2014. I then studied Spanish & Portuguese at the UMN and taught in a bilingual high school in Salamanca, Spain for three years. Additionally, I’ve done two internships in Disney World, working in EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. I’m beyond excited to be the new Spanish Teacher back home!
